QS: OSH STATE UNIVERSITY ENTERED THE WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS FOR SUSTAINABILITY
QS has announced the results of the 2026 World University Rankings: Sustainability. A total of 2,000 universities committed to sustainable development participated in the ranking. Osh State University (OshSU) took 1,251st place for its impact on the environment and society, and 1,107th place for governance indicators. Based on these indicators, the university ranked 1,501st overall. The university’s ongoing efforts were specially evaluated.
The “Sustainability 2026” rankings published by QS assess universities worldwide based on their environmental and social impact. Institutional impact is evaluated across eight categories (or indicators). These indicators reflect the university’s ability to bring positive changes for people and the planet. The rankings show how effectively universities address issues of ecology and social responsibility.

QS RANKINGS ASIA 2026: OSH STATE UNIVERSITY TOOK 22ND PLACE
QS has released the 2026 Asian university ranking results. This year, 1,526 universities from Asia participated, with 550 new universities entering the ranking. About 1.5 million academic experts and nearly 520 thousand employers took part in the survey. A total of 19.8 million publications on the Elsevier platform were examined. These metrics have made QS one of the world’s leading ranking agencies. In 2026, 73 universities from Central Asia participated in the QS ranking.
Among them, Osh State University secured 22nd place. This achievement enhances the university’s regional reputation and demonstrates its compliance with several international requirements such as participation in indexed publications, data accessibility, and meeting minimum international academic standards.

Compared to the QS Asia 2025 ranking, OshSU scored 39.9 points this year. Key criteria such as academic reputation, employer reputation, the share of foreign faculty, and faculty quality indicators increased by 6 points compared to 2025. As a result, Osh State University outperformed 79.4% of Asian universities, up from 73.8% last year.
OSH STATE UNIVERSITY ENTERED THE QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS BY SUBJECT
For the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan, Osh State University has been included in the QS World University Rankings by Subject. OshSU debuted in the ranking with a position of 301–350 for its Modern Languages program.
This result was published in the 15th edition of the annual QS World University Rankings by Subject, prepared by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, an international higher education analytics agency.
The 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject covers 55 individual subjects across five broad categories: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management.

OshSU in QS World University Rankings
According to the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, Osh State University ranked 260th out of 984 universities in Asia. Among the 65 universities in Central Asia, OshSU holds 13th place. These results reflect the university's significant achievements over the past few years.
Being included in the ranking means being among the best, proving that the education provided has reached a high level. Factors considered include the university's academic reputation, employer reputation, citation index of scientific papers, the ratio of faculty to students, the proportion of international faculty and students, and activities related to academic mobility.
OshSU scored 33% in the mentioned indicators. In the new 2025 rankings of Asia’s best universities, six universities from Kyrgyzstan were included, with OshSU ranking second among them. Previously, the institution held second place in the international ranking “IAAR Eurasian University Ranking - 2024.”

OshSU received 4 stars in the international QS Stars university ranking, presented by the world-leading organization QS, thus joining the ranks of "four-star universities."
In the comprehensive QS Stars assessment, OshSU received high scores in several categories, confirming its status as one of the leading universities in the region. In the areas of education and employability, the university earned the highest rating of 5 stars.
QS Stars is a multidimensional rating system that evaluates universities using 30 indicators across 8 different categories. In addition to faculty criteria, it assesses research, international events, social responsibility initiatives, student living conditions, and cultural and sports activities.
The main purpose of the ranking is to provide students, their parents, and experts with detailed information about universities. The assessment is based on a thorough analysis of independent sources, survey results from academic and professional communities, as well as feedback from students and alumni.

OshSU Ranked in the Top 3 Best Universities in Eurasia
Osh State University ranked second in the international “IAAR Eurasian University Ranking - 2024.” This achievement places the university among the top three leading universities in Eurasia.
The evaluation covered the university’s scientific potential, its international standing, the quality of educational programs, and academic mobility among faculty and students. It also considered graduate competitiveness, transparency, objectivity, and accessibility of information sources.
The “IAAR Eurasian University Rankings” are published annually. This year, leading universities from Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, India, Turkey, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and several other countries participated.

OshSU Included in the Top 7 of the National Rankings
For the first time, the results of the National Rankings of Higher Education Institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic were published. Universities were evaluated based on six criteria: academic reputation, employer assessments, quality of education, citation index, number of international faculty, and number of international students.
Osh State University ranked among the top 7 overall, with a score of 415.84 points. It is worth noting that the ranking process began in October 2023, with agreements signed by 27 universities that agreed to provide data. Starting from January 2024, 1,001 faculty members and 507 employers participated in the survey conducted by the EdNet agency.
